CALIFORNIA: AIDS Grant Boosts Outreach and Testing

The Marin Independent Journal reported the award of a $98,000 county contract for HIV outreach and testing services to the Marin AIDS Project in San Rafael, Calif., funded from CDC grant monies. The program includes a staffed hotline and provides free and confidential HIV testing, home-based healthcare, medical case management, mental health counseling and psychiatric services, transportation assistance, a food pantry, a needle exchange program, benefits advocacy, and emergency financial assistance. Throughout 2012–13, the agency assisted 181 individuals with benefits advocacy, and provided case management to 162 individuals and mental health services to 65 people.
