By Rahman Johnson
January 28, 2014 (Florida) (01.27.2014) reported that the Bond Community Health Center in Tallahassee, Fla., will celebrate National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day by hosting an HIV awareness block party on February 7 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. behind Bragg Stadium on the Florida A&M University campus. The occasion will provide free rapid HIV testing and offer a talent show, arts and crafts, and music provided by DJ Ghost. “The ultimate goal we are trying to achieve for this event here at Bond is to provide more HIV/AIDS awareness and education,” says Sheila Morris, Bond Community Health Center outreach coordinator. Approximately 44 percent of all new HIV infections are among African Americans, who only account for 12 percent of the US population, according to 2010 CDC estimates.
