ANRS, the French national agency for research on AIDS, has announced that it will award grants to 202 of the more than 470 teams that submitted research proposals. The proposals the new agency funded break down as follows: basic research, 118; clinical and epidemiological studies, 70; and public health, human sciences, and sociological studies, 24. ANRS Director Jean-Paul Levy called the 150 million franc ($22 million) budget "realistic" for France.
