First Licensed Inpatient AIDS Hospice in U.S. Opens in Boston

Boston--An 18-bed inpatient AIDS hospice will open in the Mission Hill area of Boston on Oct. 25. The three-story, 5,654-square-foot building will be called the Hospice at Mission Hill. It will be one of the first inpaitent AIDS facilities in the United States to operate as a true hospice, providing care consistent with hospice principles. Hospice West, which owns and operates the new AIDS hospice, will spend $350 a day for each resident. Medicaid will pay $298 a day and public grants and private donations will make up the difference. More than 30 of New England's top interior designers donated their talents to transform the 19th centurey double brownstone.
