A few months ago I got tested and unfortunately I am HIV positive. After one month on the med I am at zero and my viral load is 390. I just hope to get rid of the virus. My primary concern is what can I take with the medicine to increase my viral load?

I have been taking Combivir and Sustiva for about 2 1/2 years now, and have noticed a tremendous amount of weight gain, about 20lbs. Especially in the abdomen.

I have had HIV for 20 years. Recently I've developed severe Urinary Retention- have you ever heard of people taking Norvir as part of their combination, (i.e. Reyataz) that had developed acute Urinary Retention?

I am a 52 y/o male currently on a regimen of Truvada, Sustiva, Reyataz and Norvir and suffer from intermittent diarrhea. I have heard that using a bulking powder containing psyllium husk can help counteract this as well (it contains Golden Seal and Black Walnut). I have not been able so far to find anything that would indicate a problem with these products and my meds. Do you think it safe to take?

What HIV meds (if any) can cause your cholesterol to rise? I'm taking Nelfinavir and Truvada and I am a black male 46 years of age, postive over 13 years.

I'm trying to decide when to add additional meds. Geno/pheno tests show that I am resistant to all of these meds with some resistance to protease inhibitors also - I took Crixivan almost 10 years ago. At this point in my treatment my Dr would like to see a non-detect VL and has suggested that I add Reyataz and Ritanovir to the Epzicom that I take now.

Has there been any progress in restoring the collagen lost by various meds and/or is there any best way to increase the "fat loss" especially in the face? Is sculptra a good choice or a combo of face lift with sculptra?

HIV MEDS - Reyataz, Epivir, Viread, Norvir - If someone was to take all of these pills at once, could it kill them?
Posted : June 12, 2006

I've been on Viramune and Combivir for the past 7 years and doing well virologically. But I've noticed in the past year that I have no "butt" anymore and all the fat has gone from my arms, legs, face and buttocks. From my readings I suspect that fat loss is being caused by the Combivir. Are there other NRTI's that I could switch to that would not cause such a pronounced fat loss?

I am a 45-year-old male and have been HIV positive for about 2 years. My CD4 count is in the normal range, and when I had my last labs, it was about 750. My viral load was 391. I am not on meds and have not been since my diagnosis. Over the past several months, I seem to have been losing fat in my face.

My partner has been on Sustiva+Truvada regimen for 6 months and on his last bloodwork, the CD4 had dropped from 307 to 198. Resistance to Sustiva was confirmed and now he is switched to the Reyataz+Norvir+Truvada regimen.

3 years ago, my doctors suggested that I take a drug holiday, and my viral load remained undetectable until this year. It is now at 18,000 copies, and my CD4 count is around 480. Should I be concerned about my current status?

Earlier this year he switched from Trizivir/Sustiva to Trizivir/Viramune due to CNS side effects from the Sustiva. His CD4's have always been in the 300-350 range and never above. During his most recent visit (yesterday) we received startling news, his CD4 count was 515 but his VL now 34,000 copies. Again, please keep in mind that he had CD4 350 and VL undetectable only three months ago..

I have been taking Viracept and Combivir for a year. Just lately food tastes strange and my mouth has a funny taste. Anything slightly salty, spicy or sour makes my tongue sore. Is this related to medication ?

I am 38 and have had AIDS for three years, and have been on a Sustiva, Combivir and Diflucan "cocktail" for several years. I have severe stomach problems and food bothers me. Any ideas?

I have been HIV+ since 1988 and am currently on a cocktail consisting of Viread, Kaletra and Videx EC. I've battling with my buffalo hump since 1997. Is there anything you're doing or that is being considered or in the pipeline to deal with buffalo hump?

I have been on a Combivir/Ritonavir tx for some time now (with the recent addition of Viread). I am losing my body hair; in the armpit, leg, arm and pubic hair areas. Endocrinology tests show normal thyroid and pineal gland functions. What's up?

I keep reading that everyone eventually "mutates", rendering NNRTI's useless. I want to know how much longer I can expect to be on this cocktail before the rug is pulled out from under me?

I have recently been hearing a lot about 'bone death' in people on HAART. Is there anything that can be taken to counteract bone loss/death? Does bodybuilding accelerate this condition?

As a result of the recent Seattle Retrovirus Conference, what new HIV drugs are in the pipeline? Are the new drugs in development expected to be effective as first-line treatments for new infections? Are they expected to be useful with patients already on HIV drug combination therapies? Both?
