OBJECTIVE: To provide realistic, general medical information in an easily accessible form to all people infected with the HIV virus (treated and untreated HIV-positive).

METHOD: A free, nationally distributed newsletter for the widest readership possible featuring the following sections: medical newsbriefs, personal experiences, technical reports, surveys, addresses and practical information. Material is based on interviews, articles written by patients and on-the-spot reports. Nearly all the articles published have been written by treated and untreated HIV-positive people. Format: 21 x 29,7 cm 8 pages RESULTS: 1st issue (October 1990): 2,500 copies 2nd issue (January 1991): 3,000 copies excellent response and lively interest particularly in personal experiences.

CONCLUSION: REMAIDES meets the need of people concerned by HIV for precise information.
