OBJECTIVE: To enlighten the general population (urban and rural) on the use of condoms.

METHOD: During the last World AIDS Day celebration, an outreach campaign tour was taken by members of the Society Against the Spread of AIDS (SASA). SASA comprises of men working in print/electronic Media, had an interpersonal counselling with Calabar and Ugep communities. Handbills and free condoms were distributed to Adults in these areas.

RESULTS: In spite of the enlightenment talks on Radio, most people could not identify what condom is, and few who have heard about it don't like using it. This helped us to determine area to work on in the future. Findings show that we need a lot of pictorial work with the people as well as stressing our information through the IEC method.

CONCLUSION: Most of the HIV/AIDS prevention programme handle by NGOs and community Base Organizations are base in the urban areas. More program should be organised for NGOs and CBO, to collaborate with the media, for constant outreach campaign.
