Be here for the cure: an early HIV intervention campaign.
Int Conf AIDS 1993 Jun 6-11; 9:130 (abstract no. WS-D27-6) Hayes B, Pappas L; San Francisco AIDS Foundation, California.
Development, coordination, and evaluation of early intervention campaigns are the subjects of this presentation. The discussion focuses on the multi-city "Be Here for the Cure" campaign, which was created by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation with the assistance of HIV-positive women and men. The campaign was presented simultaneously in San Francisco (SF AIDS Foundation), Seattle (Northwest AIDS Foundation), Los Angeles (AIDS Project Los Angeles), and Washington, D.C. (Whitman-Walker Clinic), in December 1992. This unprecedented collaboration among four of the leading AIDS service organizations in the United States included extensive outdoor and print advertisements, TV PSA's, and give-away items to promote early HIV testing and treatment. Campaign evaluation results will be discussed in detail. Helpful information will be provided for developing early intervention education campaigns for this broad new target population.
