OBJECTIVE: To prevent HIV infection by providing accurate and adequate information among low literacy level and high risk behaviour.

METHODS: Through publishing the magazine to provide a platform for expression towards creating a conducive climate for prevention and support to occur there by enabling quality of life for the infected and the affected. It highlights the preventive measures and importance of practising safer sex. The Publication covers about 15000 readers per month. Approximately 200 letters per issue received from the readers. Voluntary agencies distributed the copies of Magazine to the target areas.

RESULTS: Misinformation on HIV/AIDS threatens the people who are in the age group between 15-30. 70% of the feed back letters are contained pertaining the doubts about their previous sexual exposure. Inspite of misinformation given by the media the people feel guilty and they misunderstood the issues. Hence it is imperative to disseminate the current information in HIV/AIDS. Rapid spread of HIV/AIDS does not show any obvious sign in the State in TAMILNADU. Readers have been requested to raise queries on HIV/AIDS and condom use. 50% of the letters from the readers asked for more information on using condoms.

CONCLUSIONS: Youth are able to comprehend if we give the facts of HIV/AIDS through proper channel. Many of the letters from the readers show the willingness of the readers to get current information.
