disclosure, future planning, and support.

DESCRIPTION: TAPWAK AIDS orphans support programme has promoted extensive campaigns on disclosure and future planning for families affected by AIDS around western regions of Kenya. Support groups were formed for these children after focus group discussions with their parents and guardians.

RESULTS: Presently there are 12 support groups for children in Western Kenya with trained counselors for children at each site. Monthly disclosure and future planning campaigns are held in each community within this region. RECOMMENDATION: "Training for trainers" for children's counselor must be established as soon as possible. Training for counselors of children and their parents/guardians must include disclosure and future planning. Disclosure and future planning for children must be promoted through wide scale community campaigns. Counseling of adults and children must be integrated. Play therapy, music and dance therapy, phototherapy, and other creative programs for psychotherapy for children are helpful in developing a child's life.
