ISSUES: Throughout the all history, access to sexual and reproductive health education, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases has been limited in the boarding schools as in Moldova as well in other Former Soviet republics.

DESCRIPTION: Association DRUGS from Moldova created a sex education pilot project for boarding school in 2001 with the support of Global Health Foundation. The main idea of this initiative was: with teenager about sex, AIDS and harm of narcotics speak teenagers the same age. Teenagers at the Training for Trainers wrote the special trainers guide themselves. At the training session was used videos, cartoons and different interactive methods such storytelling as ways to encourage teenagers to talk honestly with each other about sex and AIDS. LESSONS LEARNED. Problems discussed with peer-trainer is much more effective for teenagers than efforts of adults and teachers to discuss the same problem. Teachers, in their turn, emphasize that such training have long positive resonance inside the boarding school itself thus involving other students in the process of the necessary knowledge receiving.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Talking about sex education in the boarding schools the methods teenager- to-teenager may be used successfully.
