BACKGROUND: Through accompaniments of customers carriers of HIV/SIDA in hospital through situations limits, we verified the need to translate the paper of the spirituality and its influence in the emotional elaboration, trying to understand the different behaviors presented by means of the progresses of the disease. We evidenced 03 ( three ) situations intimately related in emotional terms in the interaction with the development of the symptoms: 1) sensation of temporary limitation ( " won't give time!"); 2) sensation of loss of the life ("am I dying?"); 3) sensation of retrospective of the feelings ( "will I get to rescue my life?").
METHODS: By means of a systematized study of the speeches and actions of patient carriers of HIV/SIDA, we looked for to associate through the content analysis the existent relationship among the impact of the development of the disease, as well as, the because of its cause, in a situation had as of urgency. We tried to give emphasis the metaphoric expressions in the sense of understanding the representations of being carrier of HIV/SIDA in that could have significant effect through the doubts, cries, search of attention, affection, in the projection of a labelled, weakened body, with lesions.
RESULTS: We noticed in the difficulties developed by the life risk the nucleus of larger stress, although it protects himself concerns to the affective entails, something taht it symbolizes a significant interlinked emotional activity to the: (...) will I die? (...) will it time give ? (...) prays for me.
CONCLUSIONS: The spirituality projects in the alternative of expressions customer in facing the lived reality, allowing to elaborate a channel of positive communication to the denial of the interlinked physical and psychological symptoms to HIV. We verified intense and simultaneous forms of spirituality in the moments of tension, as well as, in the communication of the ransom to the life.
