ISSUES: Supervision for psychology's students who are treating HIV+ patients by psychotherapy
DESCRIPTION: The psychology's students are cursing their last year. They are doing their practice and they choose "Chilean AIDS Preventin Council" to do it. After they get familiar with the differents issues, such as, biological knowledge, corporation's subjects, etc., they sart the meetings with the corporation's clinical psychologist, who has specials studies on sexuality and also made her practice in this Council (1997) and who is particularly en charge of the cases they take. It has been one and a half year doing this work. The meetings take four hours a week, in which each student has the time to talk about their cases. The common's subjects are: people living with HIV, especifically, people who have been recently noticed and people suffering disseases related to HIV. The work is particularly orientated to talk about matters such as:The idea of living forever, Biological death, Social death, how some patients use their disease to get winnigs of the people that are around them; like, in jobs, from their employers, or from their family, so they are seen like a special person and victim who needs to be considered and loved, may be more than a person who is not living with HIV Leassons learned The Chilean AIDS Prevention Council has this service of psychoterapy, in which, students are working, and they are supervised by the psichologist. It is an important service and they have and significant number of people interested in been treated (each student work with, at least, 5 patients a week), some times thay cannot take the service because thay have not enough space for them
RECOMMENDATIONS: For this year, we will have four students, and we are planning to have individual psychoteraphys and also groups, so we can give the service for more people. We are always open mind for having sugestions fort the work
