DESCRIPTION: AIDS - LINE is a community's telephonic service available in the whole extension of the country. The main purpouse is to inform, guide and support about HIV - AIDS in an anonymous and confidential manner, every day from 12.00 PM till 12.00 AM. This service started with the effort and compromise from the public sector and the civil society. It's an interinstitucional agreement since 1993, between Montevideo's Municipal Government, Association for the support of people living with HIV-AIDS (ASEPO), and the Institute of Investigation and Development (IDES). Agents's health teach and supervise the institutions who have the responsibility of the project. On each telephonic interview a personal device is establishmed for the demand of the user's service. The communicative action gives information about HIV - AIDS and conisders emotional and valourous aspects from the people that call. The interviews are based on: the vocabulary used, qualified attendance, every day experiences, feelings, fear, solidarity, prejudgment, impotence, ominipotence, homophobia, denial, discrimination, sitgmatize, etc. LESSON LEARNT: It's a community communication service which through out the priority of the health's prevention, information, orientation, support and promote the self preservation and responsability of the community. On each telephonic intervention a dialogue and a symmetrical relation in intended whit respect and tolerance between the person and the service. The percentaje of required calls are: 65% information, 29% orientation, 6% support.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Diffuse and promote the service through out the press and remark on the caracteristics of the anonymity and confidencial service.
