OBJECTIVES: Bring a psychosocial support to people living with HIV outside medical institutions.

METHODS: Identified people living with HIV with the medical institutions of the ten municipalities in Abidjan.

RESULTS: 1,675 people living with HIV have been identified and followed during 1 year with their consent. Among whom 849 finally accepted their status after several interviews with our counsellors. And 236 have decided to put their trust in the members of their families.

CONCLUSION: the activity has shown us that a psychological support outside medical institutions, is very important. It become much more important when it is done by the associations of people living with HIV such us "Lumiere Action". This support is also complementary to the others.
