ISSUES: HIV/AIDS advance in poor population is important. O.F.E.S. (Families Confronting AIDS Organisation) proposed the formation of community nets to attend to health promotion and HIV/AIDS prevention through participative spaces directly involved in each neighborhood. Unsatisfied basic needs, unemployment, teenage pregnancy, school desertion, addictions, make this zones vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. O.F.E.S. worked with 5 neighborhood associations of west and north Rosario.
DESCRIPTION: We used different
METHODS: Interviews, inquieries, conferences and informative meetings in schools, libraries and community centers.
ISSUES: The community nets became multipliers in HIV/AIDS prevention, making easier the access to the information to vulnerable population of our city. Community Woman Leaders were trained in HIV/AIDS prevention. Couseling and detection services were established in the neighborhoods to promote conscience about HIV. RECOMMENDATION: Community Net Work is the best way to provide poor areas with information about HIV/AIDS, addictions and sexual health, considering the deep knowledge of the situation in each neighborhood, and making success possible.
