Cooperative: A new answer for social integration of people affected by AIDS and associated to drugs-addcition.

iSSUES: After application of the high activity antiretroviral treatments (HAART) and in view of aAIDS is becoming a chronic disease with a better quality and quantity of life, we thought an effective and adapted to new necessities and possibilities was necessary. DESCRITION: Since 1990, year in which we began the activity of welcome house for people infected by aids and associated with drugs addcition, 669 attended people. up to 1997 their main necessities were: palliative cares and psychological and emotional support. from 1990-1997, 478 attended people: 143 (29,9%) deaths, 305 (63,8%) voluntary vacancies due to lack of illusion and no real possibility of social integration, 27 (5,6%) social integration cases, 37,3% of those are disabled people and due to no stable work or to access to precarious and non adapted employments to their physical and social reality, 9 of them (38,3%) relapsed. From 1998, 191 attended cases, with haart and a cooperative model: 23 (12,4%) deaths, 95 (49%) voluntary vacancies and 37 (19,3%) social integration cases, 58% of them were disabled people and thanks to a stable and adapted work in the cooperative and to the psychological support given by the entity and the other members of the cooperative, nobody has relapsed.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Coordination with public and private resources that foment social integration. Amplification of the acitvity fields in the laboral market. Attaintment of grants for this ccoperative.
