DESCRIPTION: After 10 years of AIDS epidemic in Northern Thailand. There were many PHA who rapidly died with their hopeless. However, there were some PHA who came together and set up a peer support group in 1996. It aims to support each other. The support group had faces with very challenge obstacle. But we found out that their members usually suffered from sickness and died because they lacked of opportunity to access to treatment and available service providers also have very limited resources. These problem encourage us (NGOs) to search for methodology to increase the self-reliance on health care for PHA. Lesson & Learn: Our mission must be learn about OI and ARV and try to support the PHA to be part of the advocacy for standard treatment at policy level. We believe that PHAs have equal rights to others and their dignity could not decrease because of their HIV status.
