Denial of the impact of this HIV epidemic among many of the Latino population is giving way to acceptance and acknowledgment. Public health workers must be prepared to understand stages of acceptance and to collaborate with community members. A community assets framework is necessary for developing culturally relevant interventions that are most likely to succeed.
