TOPIC DESCRIPTION: This presentation will focus on the benefits of offering multiple testing options (blood, oral, rapid) at a Community Based Organization as well as a Public Health Clinic. The second part of this workshop will emphasize the importance of targeted outreach to high-risk individuals in other venues, comparing the acceptance and disclosure rates of Oral and Rapid Testing.

ISSUES TO BE DISCUSSED: Presenter will discuss acceptance and disclosure rates, advantages of transitioning newly diagnosed individuals into treatment and care, and the issues involved in the immediate notification of sero-status for clients and counselors.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to: - Identify the advantages and disadvantages of rapid, oral, and blood testing for different behavioral risks groups; - Describe the psychological impact of rapid testing; - Use data to evaluate the success of various testing options; - Recognize the cultural and linguistic challenges of disseminating appropriate pre and post test information.

SOLUTIONS, METHODS, MODELS OR EXAMPLES: This presentation will provide participants with examples of the challenges they may encounter when attempting to offer multiple testing options in their jurisdiction as well as which venues may be most appropriate.
