Fact Sheets and Information - There are now six types of drugs used to treat HIV. They are called antiretrovirals (ARV). Typically, at least two classes are combined so that a regimen or combination of three drugs (some boosted) are taken. All drugs are listed starting with their brand (drug company) name, followed by generic (chemical) names.
