AIDS : A South African horror story

BBC News - Wednesday, 9 October, 2002

In an emotionally charged film from South Africa, correspondent Allan Little and director Cliff Bestall examine a disturbing new phenomenon - baby rape.

With 30% of South Africans believing that having sex with a virgin is a cure for AIDS - an unacceptably large number of children are at risk.

South Africa has one of the highest rates of child rape in the world.

In what may seem to be a state of denial, the South African Broadcasting Corporation refuses to screen the film.

In this powerful and disturbing report - Allan Little argues that AIDS is now so widespread that it is unhinging the country's moral code.
